Welcome to The Big
Empty!
Visitors to this area may
be surprised by the abundance of wildlife - and
water - to be found in hidden canyons and remote
valleys, far from the main highways. Viewing
opportunities vary depending on the season,
prevailing weather, and even the time of day, but
Nevada's back country offers photo opportunities
not found anywhere else in the
US.
Over the years,it has been my profound pleasure to introduce guests from all over the world to the hidden wonders that rural Nevada holds.

BEFORE THEY ARE
GONE:
More than
half of all free-roaming horses remaining in the wild, live in
Nevada. Central eastern Nevada contains the
largest designated herd areas in the World.
If prevailing trends continue, these
wild ones may disappear from the natural landscape
within a decade.
Wild horse advocates will find
a valuable resource in my knowledge of the area, and
local herds.
Rove along with me into the high desert, as we
follow some of the last truly wild horses
in WILD
HORSE COUNTRY.

| BEFORE THEY ARE
GONE:
The first settlers arrived in
this area during the late 1860's. Many of
the original settlements were abandoned, leaving only log and
stone remains.

What to
expect:
Even in the warmest summer months,
it can get cold in the higher elevations. Nevada
weather can change quickly, so it is just good
sense to prepare for as many contingencies as
possible. |
|
What to bring:
A hat,
sturdy hiking boots (even if you don't plan on
hiking); a warm jacket, extra socks, and gloves.
Extra drinking water and a few energy bars are
always a good idea.
Need we mention?
Please wear long pants and appropriate footwear.
Stickers and sharp things are inevitable, and
snakes a possibility.
In summer, apply
sunblock as you see fit, and consider carrying
mosquito
repellant. |
